Located on the old road connecting Merano to Val Venosta, Forst is a small vertical mystery hidden just a stone's throw from the decommissioned Tel road. It is a quiet environment with the relaxing background noise of the nearby river, offering a quick and accessible climbing fix.
The crag consists of a 10-meter-high wall offering 19 routes with difficulties ranging from 4a to 6c. The climbing style is short but highly technical, and the lines can sometimes be difficult to interpret. Be aware that the grades here tend to be quite sandbagged. Since the crag is relatively recent, the rock quality is not always optimal; you might encounter some loose flakes, dirty holds, and small blocks that could break off. For this reason, wearing a helmet is highly recommended. Some of the standout routes include Forst 1857, Michele Skysurf, and Schutzgebiet.
Bolting is generally good throughout the crag, though you will find some anchors lacking carabiners and utilizing bolts joined by cords. Facing North, the wall remains in the shade all day. This makes it an excellent destination for summer mornings or during the mid-seasons, provided the temperatures aren't too cold.
The base is right on the old road, which is highly convenient for a quick session of just a few hours given the large parking lot nearby and the 6-minute approach. However, it is crucial to remember that the road is occasionally used by resident vehicles. Please exercise extreme caution, and avoid bringing children or dogs.

If you want to keep climbing, remember that the Lagundo bouldering area is just one kilometer away. For a true rest day, you are perfectly positioned to enjoy the area's rich offerings. Right down the road is the famous Forst Brewery, where you can enjoy a brewery tour or relax in the beer garden with traditional South Tyrolean food. The nearby city of Merano offers the beautiful Terme di Merano for a relaxing spa day, or you can take a picturesque stroll through the stunning botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle.

Situata sulla vecchia strada che da Merano portava in Val Venosta, Forst è un piccolo mistero verticale nascosto a due passi dalla viabilità dismessa di Tel. È un ambiente tranquillo, cullato dal rilassante rumore di sottofondo del fiume, ideale per una sessione di arrampicata rapida e accessibile.
La falesia si sviluppa su un muro di circa 10 metri di altezza e offre 19 vie dal 4a al 6c. Lo stile di arrampicata prevede linee corte, molto tecniche e talvolta di difficile interpretazione. Attenzione: i gradi tendono a essere piuttosto stretti. Poiché la falesia è ancora recente, la qualità della roccia non è sempre delle migliori; è possibile imbattersi in scaglie instabili, prese sporche e alcuni blocchetti che potrebbero rompersi. Per questo motivo, l'uso del casco è caldamente consigliato. Tra i tiri più interessanti spiccano Forst 1857, Michele Skysurf e Schutzgebiet.
La chiodatura è complessivamente buona, a parte qualche sosta senza moschettone in cui gli spit sono uniti da un cordino. Esposta a Nord, la falesia resta sempre all'ombra durante l'intera giornata. Questo la rende una meta eccellente per le mattinate estive o nelle mezze stagioni, a patto che non faccia troppo freddo.
La base si trova direttamente sulla vecchia strada, un'opzione comodissima per chi ha a disposizione solo qualche ora per arrampicare, grazie anche al grande parcheggio vicino e all'avvicinamento di soli 6 minuti. È fondamentale, però, ricordare che la strada non è chiusa al traffico ed è percorsa da alcuni veicoli autorizzati. Prestare la massima attenzione: il luogo non è adatto a bambini o cani.

Se volete continuare a scalare, ricordiamo che a un chilometro di distanza si trova l'area boulder di Lagundo. Per un giorno di riposo, la posizione è strategica: a brevissima distanza si trova il celebre Birrificio Forst, perfetto per una degustazione o un pasto tipico altoatesino nel loro biergarten. Inoltre, la vicina città di Merano offre le rinomate Terme per un pomeriggio di puro relax, o una passeggiata tra gli splendidi Giardini botanici di Castel Trauttmansdorff.

More than a traditional sector, the Forst crag is an intimate project. It serves as a "personal gym" equipped by a few locals to train close to home and warm up their fingers in absolute tranquility. The crag was established and equipped at the beginning of the summer of 2019.
