🚗 Arrival
Coming from Arco, head towards the village of Nago. At the roundabout, take the exit towards Rovereto and drive along the main road until you spot the brown sign for “Passo S. Giovanni” on the right side. Keep going for another 160 meters, and you will find the car park on the right side of the road. On the opposite side of the road, there is a construction site with some additional parking slots.
Attention!!! Do not leave any valuables in your car, as thefts have unfortunately occurred in this car park.
🚶♂️ Sectors
There are two possible approaches depending on your destination and the trail conditions.
Suggested path: Cross the road from the car park and look for a "Boulder" sign on the right. Follow the road for 50 meters, and just before a closed gate, take the narrow path on the right. After a couple of minutes, this leads directly to the boulder area.
Backup path (recommended for the multi-pitches of Coste di Loppio, or if the suggested path is blocked): Cross the road, turn left, and take the bicycle lane. Follow it under the tunnel, and just before the first cypress tree on the right, climb over the guardrail and cross the road. Take the dirt road going into the fields and walk straight to its end (about 280 meters), then turn right.
• For Coste di Loppio: Look for a steep path on the left and follow it until it flattens out (about 10 minutes). At the junction, go right and you will reach the base of the sector in another 4-5 minutes.
• For Passo San Giovanni (Main walls and boulders): Continue on the dirt road for about 80 meters, then take a small path going uphill into the stony ground. This joins a more evident path. Follow it for a few tens of meters until you reach some junctions and a large boulder on the left. Go towards this boulder and take the large path going downhill, which leads to the first boulders of the San Giovanni crag after about 100 meters. The trails within the boulders and the main wall are clearly evident.
• For Pausapranzo sector: Reach sector C of San Giovanni (where the route Fafifurni is located). Walk East, leaving the large boulder on your left, and downclimb a small stone wall. Take the trail going downhill through the woods and follow the stone pillars until you hit another evident path. This path runs along the left side of a seasonal "lake" (which only appears after long rainy periods). Follow it for about 500 meters until you reach a junction. Keep left, walk for another 60 meters, and take the small uphill path going left. After a few meters, you will encounter some fixed ropes, a stony section, and then more ropes. This final trail is quite steep but quickly leads to the Pausapranzo sector.
